Growing up with Excitebike was the best thing ever, if you owned this game, you were the cool kid on
the block. However, nowadays, things have changed and this game sits on the backburner more often.
The game consists of a pro Motocross rider racing and jumping his way to the top. In order to get
to the top, you must finish the 5 preliminary races, and then you gain access to another 5 races,
this time they are much harder and challenging.
Graphics: (4/10)
Being an NES game, today people would think the graphics are not good at all. Back when the NES
was popular, this graphics also were not good at all. They could of been better, unfortunately
you can tell, not a lot of time was put into making this game. Your rider looks like a lego man,
and the track is one solid color. There are no fans, just a pattern of what are suppose to look
like fans, but don't seem to resemble them at all. The graphics for this game are lucky enough
to get a four for this game.
Sound: (3/10)
You could put your TV on mute and not even notice that the sound is off. The only real music
you hear is on the title screen, although it is very catchy, it tends to get annoying, and you
sigh with relief when you find out its only on the title screen. Whenever you are racing the
only sound you hear is the rubbing of your engine. Not too pleasant, I'm sure people don't
put on a song with just a engine sound, and dance the night away.
Gameplay: (8/10)
Here is where the game shows off its glory. The gameplay of this game is very easy to get a
hang off which is makes a big difference of how fast paced this game is. The designers where
smart not too make this game difficult, because the game wouldn\'t be remembered as how it is
today. Up, down, brake, gas, its all very simple to learn, with one button commands. There is
a few hidden tricks with the gameplay, for instance, whenever you fall off your bike, rapidly
tapping A gets you back on your bike quicker. The gameplay definetly deserves an 8, for
excellence.
Replay Value: (7/10)
The main part of this game is fairly easy, and can get boring fast. I am sure the makers
of the game realized this, so they added a create your own track option. The possibilities
are endless with 19 different pieces of track you can add to your custom made road. Make a
your own course, race on it, and try to beat your time, or challenge a friend to take a run
on your course. You can even add your number of laps, either make it a all out circuit with
as many laps as possible, or make a simple time trial with a short 1 lap course, its all up
to you.
Overall: (not averaged, 7/10)
This game is a definetly must have, hey, its one of nintendos classics. If you ever come
across this game, definetly pick it up, it is worth it. I hope that after reading this
review, it will encourage you to buy this game and try it out for yourself.
